1829年成立, 该校没有申请截止日, 是采rolling制的, 并有四个quarter(分别是九月, 十二月, 三月和六月), 每个学院的入学日期都不太一样, 建议要询问清楚喔(校方希望能在入学十周前要收到国际学生的各种申请资料)
1300 亩校地, 离罗撤斯特downtown 5里, RIT的硕士进修课程包括了相当多种视觉领域, 并且包括了艺术及科技整合应用, 有一些科技如计算机设计或电子化摄影和数字影像处理, 也是业界评价很高的学校, , RIT是一所很大的学校, 2000-2001总学生(大学部和研究所)人数约15160人, 男66%, 女34%, 亚裔5%, 国际学生5%, 师生比例约为1:12, 提供宿舍。

RIT的艺术设计相关系所, 都开在艺术科技影像学院College of Imaging Art and Science里(简称CIAS), 种类相当多哟! 2006年RIT的网页挺混乱的, 不但系所常换网址, 连本部的学院link, 也常常换来换去, 不过2008年看来, CIAS的网页比较整齐啰! 但是容我小吐槽一下, 通通用Flash, 好多之前的link都没啦! 呜!

Casper网友于2006年Apr对RIT CGD的说明: RIT CGD毕业需要90学分，学校是属于quarter制度，通常summer quarter没开什么课程，所以一年以3个学期为主，而为了在2年内毕业，必须一学期至少修15学分，通常一门课3-4学分不等。所上开的课程很广，大致上分为动画(motion graphic, 2D and 3D)、互动多媒体(game, website, programming)、broadcasting design等等，通常这几个领域或多或少一定会需要修个几门课，不过建议还是锁定一个领域专精会比较实际。
作品风格老师并不会去做任何设限，重要的是学生有没有能力去呈现出来。师资方面，所上能力不错的老师有两个，一个属于互动多媒(Flash)，另一个是Maya以及motion graphic(After Effect &Shake)；另外，如果你对互动多媒想更专精，可以去修学校IT的程序课程（这方面研一时有一堂IT的programming必修课，你可以修完后考虑是不是继续专精），如果你想更专精3D动画方面，可以去修学校Film and Animation的课程。这意思就是，只要你有兴趣的Graduate课程，只要跟设计领域有相关的，你都可以去修，所以我们今年有同学就去修 Digital art或是Metals And Jewelry Design的课程。
除了创作课程之外，我们还必须要跟GD以及ID的学生一起修9学分的core(设计理论)课程，这是研一时分成3个quarter来修的理论课，分别是Design Research, Design Theory & Methods Seminar, and Design History等等。这类课程属于上课分组讨论以及个人发表意见，回家写paper，对于不是英文为母语的学生，通常会花比较多时间准备。

他们的学位不是MFA是MS喔! 过去这个学院共有三个硕士主修, 分别是Graphic Arts Publishing平面设计出版, Graphic Arts System平面设计系统还有Printing Technology印刷概要技术; 不过印刷现在明显不是一个很大的趋势了, 所以硕士学位就浓缩成Master of Print Media, 比较特别的是开办了在线课程喔! 有兴趣的同学可以多了解看看!

一个Quarter是10058, 一年有四个Quarter, 年学费的话是30174(不要问我为什么不是10058×4呀? 10058×4太高了, 30174总是比较好的价钱), 这是Full time graduate student的学费(不含生活费哟!)

1. 请问RIT的校园生活如何?安全吗?获得信息快速吗?
Hmm, campus life, boring + safe = good environments for hard working. RIT is one of the top “most wired” campus - very good computer labs, library, and internet access. Information exchange is good, no doubts. As the matter of fact, the best thing about RIT, for me, is the facility.

2. 请问Graphic Design and Computer Graphic Design在RIT的师资好吗? 它们的课程规划如何?
Graphic Design program is really good, if you don’t think about the evil evil teachers and endless projects. Classes have a lot of emphasis on design theory and history study as well as production. Instructors include some of the very few famous design historians in the US. So as you can imagine, classes include design history study, system design, information design, typography… etc. Computer Graphic Design on the other hand, focus a lot on mastering multimedia design software. I personally like their instructors, but there are some debates among students about them. The advantage they have is their expensive computer lab and software. The program includes 2D & 3D digital imaging and animation (if you wish to take animation classes), video editing, web design, interactive design…. etc.

3. RIT校园中的艺术活动多吗?
It depends on whom you compare it to. Less than New York City, yet just enough to occupy your free time (if you have any). Big hockey games though, ha, if anyone from Taiwan would like to learn ice skating and playing hockey.

4. RIT是否有台湾同学会, 组织运作如何呢?
There’s a Taiwanese Student Association with members about 40 - 50. No one really expects any huge activities mainly because most people here are for master degree, and they don’t stay more than 3 years. RIT is in quarter system (not semester) so schedule is usually extremely tight. Things like looking for an apartment, a ride from the airport, opening bank account and student account, looking for a car….., you know, life convenience stuff, are nothing to worry about. But nothing funky. I personally don’t consider RIT as the top 123 schools, but the learning and living experience there is generally good. Probably because most people are for masters, they are older and more mature. Anyway, hope this helps.
